Candidates For Gastric Bypass Surgery
- The weight of the person wishing to perform the gastric bypass operation should not be less than 40 kilos.
- To be in good health and not suffer from any health problem that causes weight gain.
- To be free from blood clotting problems, to avoid severe bleeding during the operation.
- Those who suffer from health problems resulting from obesity, such as osteoporosis, and cartilage melting.
- Persons who failed to lose weight through exercise or a balanced diet.

Pre Gastric Bypass Surgery
- Undergo the necessary medical examinations and tests.
- Stop eating and drinking for eight hours before the operation.
- Refrain from smoking for at least one month after the operation.
- Avoid taking blood thinners, such as green tea.
- Avoid all kinds of stimulants, such as caffeine, Arabic coffee and alcohol, for a period of at least two weeks.
- Stop taking any blood-thinning medications for a period of no less than two weeks before the operation.

Post Gastric Bypass Surgery
- Avoid eating right after the surgery, and keep on fluid intake. Food intake will be taken gradually starting by mashed food, then soft food, after that solid food, in order to help the stomach and intestines to function properly.
- Take some multivitamin and mineral supplements that include iron, calcium, in addition to vitamin B12.
- Avoid making any heavy effort or lifting heavy objects for at least a month.
- Refrain from smoking for at least two weeks after surgery.

- Third, the upper part of the stomach will be diverted and connected directly to the small intestine through a small hole that allows food to pass.
